While fear is inherent in every human society, it is not fear itself that frightens us so much as the overpowering fright that fear may arouse within. "It is fear I stand most in fear of; in sharpness it exceeds every other feeling" (Montaigne). Fear underlines the precarious edifice of the human condition: we fear death, gods, power, loss, strangers and the unknown. Both nations and individuals are often seized by fear and hysteria. There are many powerful reasons why a society in which fear does not exist is unknown and has never existed.
Why interethnic relations? Considering the Macedonian society in the past period, the most important conflicts were the interethnic ones. Fortunately, these conflicts were not always open conflict situations, but still throughout all that period they were more or less expressed through evident tensions between the ethnic Albanians and ethnic Macedonians, or more precisely, between the Macedonian nation and the Albanian ethnic minority in the state.
The role and function of Islam (not only as religion and fate, but also as a civilization and cultural circle) in the context of modern, global political, economic, ideological, and cultural trends and its competitive intersection (particularly in the example of Bosnia and Herzegovina) is almost constantly impregnated by a large dose of negative attitudes and relationships on the side of "western" mankind - the Christian, that is, the Christian civilization and cultural circle.
Since the end of the Cold War, most conflicts worldwide have been within states, and in most cases have erupted through ethnic or group mobilization over grievances. Some of the most massive and costly conflicts in human terms have involved the long?standing intrastate conflicts in Sri Lanka and Sudan, and the attempted genocide in the Great Lakes area in Central Africa.
